No. 1 overall pick, 2021. The first true cornerstone Detroit has had since Chauncey.

Cade pushing the ball past T. J. McConnell in Indianapolis — November 29, 2024.

Drafted first overall in 2021 out of Oklahoma State. The Pistons of 2022 lost a lot. The Pistons of 2024 won fourteen games. He stayed. The 2024-25 Pistons were the surprise of the season; the 2025-26 Pistons were an arrival.

A 6'6" lead guard who sees passes a beat before they're possible. A step-back jumper that did not exist in his draft scouting report and is now a standing offer. A pace that bends the floor by slowing it down rather than speeding it up.

First All-NBA team in 2025. The locker room follows him because he listens more than he speaks. Detroit again had a team that was identifiably itself in 2025-26 — and Cade was why.
